What is Hoo-Rah Day?
Hoo-Rah Day is our annual celebration of Central College spirit and an opportunity to bring the Central community together all around the world! You can join the festivities by sharing pictures and messages on social media, wearing your favorite Central gear or by making a gift to the program or area on campus that means the most to you. The campaign kicks off officially at 12:00 a.m. CST on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, and ends at 11:59 p.m. the same day.
What areas can I support?
Give to the scholarship, academic area, campus project, sport or arts program that means the most to you. From contributing to the Journey Scholarship Fund to funding transformative research or supporting important campus improvements, you can make an immediate and lasting difference at Central.
Don’t know what to support? We suggest the Journey Scholarship Fund. Central awarded more than $1.3 million in donor-funded Journey Scholarship awards this year. Our goal is to continue to present each new admitted student a $1,000 Journey Scholarship.
Why should I participate in Hoo-Rah Day?
The Central experience is built on long-lasting, meaningful relationships. So what better time to celebrate these connections than now? Those who donate to Central provide ongoing resources that are crucial to the success of the college and our students. Whether you support scholarships, academics, athletics or campus improvements, your support makes a real difference.
How can I make my gift?
Because Hoo-Rah Day is just 24 hours long, we encourage you to make your gift online. This ensures your gift qualifies for matches and challenges taking place throughout the day. Visit hoorah.central.edu any time Wednesday, April 10, 2024, and give to what inspires you.
To give by phone, call 641-628-5154 on April 10th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. Gifts can be mailed ahead of time to: Central College, Office of Advancement, 812 University Street, Pella, IA 50219.
What other ways can I get involved?
Share some photos or Hoo-Rah messages on social media. Be sure to wear your Central red. Show off the Hoo-Rah Day poster. Share your stories and images using the hashtag #HoorahDay to help spread the word! The dashboard will collect posts, allowing visitors to hoorah.central.edu to view constant updates from the Central community.
What gifts are matched on Hoo-Rah Day?
Gifts to the Journey Scholarship Fund will be matched – up to $180,000 through different challenges! – thanks to our incredible lead donors!
What are the Hoo-Rah Day Giving Challenges?
ANY Gift. ANY Program. Support your favorite scholarship, program, team or club. Every gift counts towards one or more giving challenges. When we reach our challenge goals, new funds are unlocked for the Journey Scholarship. Check our Challenges page!
What if I don't see my area of interest as a giving option?
Try using the search feature to find the program of your choice or select the "Other" option from the drop down menu. We will ensure your gift is designated appropriately and contact you with any questions.
How can I make my donation go even further?
Many employers match charitable donations to higher education. To find out if your employer (or your spouse's employer) has a matching gift program, visit central.edu/match. If your company does match your gift, please email development@central.edu to have this count towards Hoo-Rah Day!
